At SteelOrchid we have a passion for photography and for giving the best service to our customers. We have won many awards for our creative work both nationally and internationally and both Chris and Mike are in great demand as lecturers and judges in the photographic community. We are based near Manchester and specialise in covering the North of England but we are also happy to travel to meet the needs of our clients.

Mike has worked extensively in public relations and design, where he gained valuable
experience in social and commercial photography and the print and design industry. His photo-editing skills are
second to
none.
Christine Widdall BSc(Hons) DPAGB BPE3* AFIAP
Chris has many years experience working with people, in particular with young
children. Her people skills together with a passion
for photography have resulted in a unique, relaxed and natural style.
Using the latest technology from concept through
capture to delivery, we work in different but complementary styles. We can work to a full brief or
you can give us complete freedom to use our own creative talents. With our
understanding of people and the effect of light, we can create spontaneous
pictures which bring out the best attributes
of our subjects.
Our friendly, informal and professional approach makes
the photography fun, positive and successful for everyone involved.
Personal News and Exhibition Success 2010
January
Christine awarded Honours in PSA competition in the USA. Christine's book "Saddleworth, through my Lens" is published and available through our fine art section. Mike was a judge at the Southport Open (Projected Images section). Christine was a selector at the Smethwick International.
February
Christine Won the Colour Print Open section at the Southport National Open Exhibition and was installed as President of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union later in the month. One of her first official duties was to speak at the Opening of the Southport Exhibition (this is all getting a bit incestuous!!!)
March
Christine received 7 awards, including a PSA Gold medal for Best in Show, a Judges' Medal, 2 ribbons and 3 commendations in the Great British Small Prints International. Also she received an award in the Bristol Salon.
April, May June
Chris received an award in the Adana International in Turkey for a monochrome print. She also received a number of print and digital acceptances in Croatia, Slovenia, Belgium, France and Argentina and two more ribbons from the USA.
